About Mills College

Mills College Logo

Mills College is located in the foothills of San Francisco Bay in Oakland, California. It was founded in 1852, and is the oldest undergraduate women’s college on the West Coast. Mills College is both a women’s liberal arts college and Hispanic Serving Institution. Mills College prides itself on fostering excellence, critical thinking, experimentation, and creativity within its students. Alumnae have the capacity to move forward into giant tech companies like Google and Amazon in nearby San Francisco. At the same time, alumnae also move to give back to their community, working in Oakland’s School District and Housing Development Offices. As a testament to their commitment to providing education access to students, in 2018, Mills reduced their undergraduate tuition by 36 percent.
